comment fusionner des pdf en toute confidentialité

lecture rapide · dernière mise à jour mai 2026 · outil associé : outil de fusion pdf

Most "free PDF merger" sites work the same way: you upload your files to their server, their server merges them, and you download the result. Your files — which might contain contracts, financial statements, medical records, or personal documents — now exist on someone else's computer. Most of these services claim to delete files after processing, but you have no way to verify that.

the privacy problem with online pdf tools

When you upload a PDF to ilovepdf, smallpdf, or any similar service, your file travels across the internet to their servers (usually in the US or EU), gets processed, and the result is sent back. During this journey, your document is exposed to network intermediaries, stored temporarily on the service's infrastructure, and subject to whatever data retention policies the company has — which can change without notice.

For personal documents, this might be an acceptable risk. For business contracts, financial records, legal documents, or anything containing sensitive personal information, it's a risk worth avoiding entirely.

how client-side merging works

bababa's PDF merge tool uses a JavaScript library called pdf-lib that runs entirely in your browser. When you select files, they're loaded into your browser's memory — they never leave your device. The library reads the structure of each PDF, combines the pages in order, and generates a new merged PDF file that you download directly. No upload, no server, no network request.

This approach has a practical limitation: very large files (hundreds of megabytes) can be slow because your browser has limited memory compared to a dedicated server. For typical document merging — combining a few contracts, assembling a report from sections, or putting together a presentation package — it works instantly.

step by step

  1. Open bababa's PDF merge tool
  2. Click "choose files" and select the PDFs you want to merge, in the order you want them
  3. Click "merge & download"
  4. The merged file downloads to your device

That's it. No account, no upload progress bar, no "processing on our servers" wait screen. The merge happens in milliseconds for typical file sizes because there's no network round-trip.

what about the other pdf tools?

The same client-side approach powers all of bababa's PDF tools: split, rotate, reorder pages, add watermarks, and preview. Every operation runs in your browser using pdf-lib (for manipulation) and PDF.js (for rendering previews). Both libraries are open source, widely audited, and loaded from a public CDN — no proprietary code touching your files.
